A national property consultancy’s first charity padel tournament raised £6,000 for four charities – and planning for next year’s competition is already underway.
Fisher German’s Development Agency team successfully launched its first-ever charity padel tournament, bringing together 30 teams from across the development sector for a fantastic mix of sport, fundraising and networking.
The tournament involved a wide range of participants, including land promoters, housebuilders and members of the Land, Planning and Development Federation (LPDF), who took to padel courts across the West Midlands, East Midlands and North West to enjoy the UK’s fastest growing racquet sport.
Regional heats were held in Derby, Birmingham and Manchester with the top three teams from each region qualifying for the finals, with standout performances from MyPad, Chevin Homes, Ainscough Strategic Land, Wain Estates, Rowland Homes, Taylor Wimpey, Gladman, and Lone Star Land.
After an impressive run, losing just one game across both the qualifiers and the finals, MyPad was crowned the well-deserved champions and took home the trophy.
Around £6,000 was raised and donated to four charities: The Henry Sale Foundation, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Mustard Tree in Manchester and Foundation Derbyshire.
Luke Brafield, Partner in the development agency team at Fisher German, said the tournament had been an incredible success on many levels.
“Padel is a great sport to have a go at because it is such fun and I can understand why it has become so popular in the UK,” he said.
“Since there are so many padel courts now, we were able to easily book courts for regional heats before holding the final in Derby.
“The tournaments were a brilliant opportunity for everyone involved in the development sector, to connect, play some competitive sport, and raise money for charity.
“There were players of all abilities taking part – many even uncovered a new hidden talent for padel! – and it was a great opportunity to network and socialise with colleagues.
“Following the overwhelming success of this year’s tournament, we’re already planning to expand the event in 2026, with more teams, new regional heats and an even bigger fundraising target.”
