Sector Group Overview
Professional Liverpool Private Client Sector Group
A group aligned to the long established Private Client industry based in the city. With a membership spanning most disciplines from legal to accountancy to wealth management. The sector tries to bring these together under one unified group as ‘Private Client’,
What is your aim/goal as a sector group?
I see the group as having two mains aims. One bringing and championing what is a long established but seemingly fragmented local Private Client market to cross collaborate not just as individuals, businesses but as a sector.
More critically, interacting with the other sector groups to ensure the PL body as a whole can flourish and we don’t have slippage away from the city when we have talented individuals from across the space.
What is something you have accomplished recently that has helped towards your aim/goal as a group?
Re-engaging with the Law Society and STEP to try and earmark a key , annual ‘Private Client Conference’ to bring together the entire sector as a whole once a year to discuss key topics, network and engage discussion across member firms.
What’s one key issue or opportunity currently facing your sector?
A willingness to shout about the sector and champion the local cause. My view has long been that a bigger pie for us all is beneficial, rather than championing our own slice.
Emergence of Manchester and its PE community has led to large US, Swiss Private Banks establishing a presence and beginning to threaten Liverpool market where we have exceptionally talented private client practitioners whom can more than assist providing an enhances offering.
What’s one thing you’d like members to know about your sector group?
We exist and can cross collaborate across the business cycle and differing sectors. It doesn’t have to be the end point of exit, wealth creation and so forth. We are keen to assist along across groups, businesses and different sectors, ultimately creating a more unified PL.
