Liverpool-born actor James Nelson-Joyce to appear at iconic Plaza Cinema for a special ‘In Conversation’ evening in support of St Joseph’s Hospice

The acclaimed star of BBC drama This City Is Ours will share stories from his acting career, his Liverpool roots and the unexpected media frenzy surrounding speculation over the next James Bond.

Liverpool-born actor James Nelson-Joyce is set to take centre stage at Waterloo’s iconic Plaza Cinema on Thursday 10 December from 7.45pm for a special ‘In Conversation’ evening celebrating his career, his hometown and his passion for acting.

The event will give audiences a unique opportunity to hear directly from one of Liverpool’s exciting acting talents as he reflects on his journey into the industry, shares insights into life on screen and discusses his role in the acclaimed BBC drama This City Is Ours.

Born and bred in Liverpool, James will talk about what it means to be part of a production that shines a spotlight on the city and why the opportunity to act in This City Is Ours has been so special for someone with such strong roots in the area.

The evening will also explore some of James’ personal ambitions, including his childhood dream of playing for Liverpool FC and his desire to one day portray the legendary Irish footballer George Best.

And, with speculation and media interest continuing over who might take on the iconic role of James Bond next, James will share his thoughts on how surreal it is to find himself connected to the frenzy surrounding one of cinema’s most talked-about roles.

Taking place in the atmospheric surroundings of the historic Plaza Cinema, the evening promises an entertaining and revealing conversation about ambition, opportunity, the realities of the acting profession and the journey from Liverpool to the national spotlight.

A special evening supporting St Joseph’s Hospice

The event will also raise vital support for St Joseph’s Hospice in Thornton, a charity that holds a particularly special place in James’ heart.

Mike Parr, Chief Executive of St Joseph’s Hospice is delighted that James is supporting the hospice in such a fantastic way, “James’ grandad, Ronnie, sadly passed away at the hospice, and his family remain incredibly grateful for the tenderness, compassion and care they received during such a difficult time, for James to make time to be part of the ‘in conversation’ evening is a wonderful gesture and I’m sure anyone who attends will have a fantastic time”

By supporting the event, audiences will have the opportunity to help St Joseph’s Hospice continue its vital work providing palliative and end-of-life care to patients and families across Merseyside.

Donations will be welcomed on the evening, with all support helping the hospice continue to care for people living with life-limiting conditions and provide comfort and dignity to patients and their loved ones when they need it most.

The ‘In Conversation’ evening promises to be a memorable night, bringing together an acclaimed local acting talent, a much-loved Liverpool landmark and a cause that means so much to James and his family.
