What do you actually do day-to-day?
Manage a small, dedicated team who maintain the wonderful 34-acre estate every day of the year. The team also organise the UK’s largest independent flower show and support all other events that we host on the park
What experiences or influences guided you toward your current profession?
I’ve been volunteering at the flower show for over 20 years prior to becoming an employee. I previously spent 30 years in the Civil Service and was a Senior Project Manager before I left in 2020. Running the show and managing the park is a huge project – so all my previous skills are transferable.
What’s the best advice you have ever received?
Treat others how you would like to be treated yourself.
What does leadership mean to you?
Taking responsibility and setting a positive example. Empowering staff and giving credit where it’s due – treating everyone with respect and fairness.
What has been your favourite Professional Liverpool event and why? / If you are a new member, which event are you most looking forward to attending and why?
Cannes Do and Members Lunch events, lots of great networking opportunities and a chance to know people in a more informal basis.
What’s your favourite TV programme? Taskmaster
How do you relax? I rarely do but playing with my grandchildren can (at times!) be relaxing.
Which do you prefer: sweets or chocolate? And what’s your favourite?
Chocolate every time! I’m partial to a chocolate brazil or a pack of peanut M&M’s.
Pub or club? Pub
Do you have any hobbies? Play Crown Green Bowls if I have time.

Favourite venue in Liverpool? So many to choose from across the City Region and plenty on offer in Southport – so would be wrong to choose just one.
