Top Legal Professionals honoured at Region’s Legal Sector Awards

The Liverpool City Region legal community of the came together on 14th November in an evening of inspiring speeches and celebration at Liverpool Law Society’s Annual Dinner and Legal Awards 2024. The prestigious black-tie event showcased the remarkable talent and dedication exhibited by the city region’s legal sector and the brightest minds in the legal community.

The Legal Awards celebrate excellence within the legal sector, recognizing individuals and firms for their outstanding contributions and achievements. These awards highlight exceptional talent, innovative practices, and dedication to the rule of law.

The independent judging panel were impressed by the very high standard of entries and the “range of practice specialties undertaken in Merseyside and the leading role our region is taking in new areas and areas of national importance. It is also great to see that so many of our local law firms encourage applicants from non-traditional backgrounds and provide them with training and encouragement in their pursuit of a legal career.”

Outstanding Team Award (Family Law) – Maria Fogg Family Law

The President of the Society, Gaynor Williams, said “Our Legal Awards not only celebrate the excellent talent we have within the Legal sector, they shine a light on the individuals and firms for their outstanding contributions and achievements. These awards highlight exceptional talent, innovative practices, and dedication to the rule of law. Everyone who was nominated should be very proud of their achievements, and congratulations to the winners.”

At the Annual Dinner, members and guests were privileged to hear from The Rt Hon the Baroness Hale of Richmond DBE, retired President of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, about her varied career as an academic lawyer, as the first woman member of the Law Commission, and as a Judge. There was a collection for the guest speaker’s nominated charity, Freedom From Torture, a human rights charity dedicated to the rehabilitation of refugees and asylum seekers who have survived torture.  Over £4,800 was raised.
