IGB International School (IGBIS), a leading education provider in Malaysia, is to join forces with Everton in an exciting new partnership aimed at boosting their sports provision.
Renowned as one of the best international schools in Asia and the only IB school in Malaysia offering all four of the International Baccalaureate programmes, IGBIS becomes the latest addition to Everton’s International Academy Affiliate Programme (EIAAP), with the two organisations set to work together on providing a thriving community-based sports programme.
The burgeoning partnership will also include curriculum sharing player development, coach education, and safeguarding procedures and practices. #
The EIAAP initiative provides clubs at all tiers of the game with access to the finest coaching knowledge from Everton’s renowned Academy to support with growth – a level of support that sets it apart from more traditional models.
These include:
- A holistic approach to player, coach and club development, offering technical support from Everton’s Finch Farm training complex and business and marketing support from its Royal Liver Building business headquarters
- Regular support from a dedicated Everton Academy coach
- Full access to the Everton Academy curriculum
IGBIS, founded in 2014, has a vision to provide an innovative international education that inspires learners to make a positive impact on the world and is unparalleled in the opportunities available for students.
The school first opened with around 150 students and aims to grow to 1,400 students through additional facilities and future enrolment.
IGBIS therefore partners with Everton, as an elite tier EIAAP partner, to assist with their growth plan to build a comprehensive sports programme for boys and girls and across the local community.
The ultimate aim is for the high-quality partnership to provide players aged three and above, who attend schools and community clubs in the Kuala Lumpur area as well as those who attend IGBIS, with the chance to learn to play to the best of their abilities, while enjoying football.
As an International Academy Affiliate partner, IGBIS will have the opportunity to visit Everton’s state-of-the-art Finch Farm complex – the home of Everton’s senior men’s, senior women’s and academy teams – for further education and training.
Dr Greg Brunton, Head of School of IGB International School, shared his excitement with the new partnership, insisting: “We are thrilled to partner with Everton Football Club.
“As a founding member of the Football League and a Premier League club, Everton aligns perfectly with our values at IGB International School.
“The collaboration, which includes regular consultation between Everton Football Club and the coaches, ensures our program stays updated with the latest trends in football. This will provide our players with professional insights necessary for rapid progression.
“This unique program is the first of its kind for an international school in Malaysia, offering unparalleled opportunities to our players.”
Everton will assist in sharing the Everton Academy curriculum and methods used at Finch Farm to develop both player and coaching skills.
This, in turn, will provide IGBIS with additional knowledge and resources to assist with the school’s main goal for their students to continually improve their playing skills.
Sean Robertson, Everton International Coordinator, said: “We are delighted to welcome IGB International School as a partner club to Everton’s International Academy Affiliate programme.
“I am sure this will prove a fruitful partnership for both organisations, and I know our team of coaches excited to work alongside IGB International School and their team in expanding their sports provision.
“By sharing Everton’s values and coaching methods we will further enhance both our affiliate programme and Everton’s impact in Malaysia.”
Everton’s International Academy Affiliate Club programme, which is available to grassroots teams, professional sides, youth academies, girls’ and women’s teams, as well as colleges and universities, was launched in 2020.
The programme, which aims to expand the knowledge and expertise of Everton’s player development processes to affiliated clubs across the world, has affiliates in the US, Canada, South America, Africa, Australia and Ireland.
