Liverpool Sportswoman’s Lunch raises record £58,000 for Owen McVeigh Foundation

The Liverpool Sportswoman’s Lunch raised an astonishing £58,000 for the Owen McVeigh Foundation in front of a full house at Anfield on Thursday 3 September, the event’s biggest total yet.

More than 300 professionals from Liverpool’s business community heard guest speaker Nicola Carragher and Suzanne Daly, the mother of a child the Foundation has supported. The charity funds and supports children and their families who are suffering from Cancer in Merseyside. And to top the day Bongo’s Bingo closed the event as the evening’s entertainment.

Founder Clare Brookfield said: “Nine years ago this did not exist. A full room at Anfield and £58,000 for a Liverpool charity says everything about the people and businesses that support us every year.”

Founded in 2017 by Clare Brookfield, Natalie Dye and Marena Chahal, the Lunch’s volunteer board also includes Natalie Dickson, Alice Gregan, Ruth Kirby, Louise Molloy, Lucy Shotter and Bethany Kelly. It has raised more than £228,000 for Merseyside causes including Alder Hey Children’s Charity and the Marina Dalglish Appeal.
