What do you actually do day-to-day?

Well, overall, Agnes help SME professional services business to win more clients through strategic, organised and effective marketing. You're probably thinking, 'OK, so does that mean?'. Well, in a nutshell, we are the outsourced marketing department for our clients. We provide marketing management and support services that are built around the requirements of their business.

On a day-to-day basis my job is to ensure that the aims, objectives and KPIs that we agree with our clients are being met, and that the marketing activity delivering these results is being delivered on time and on budget every month.

Have you ever had a mentor? If so, who?

I've had a few, actually. Most recently, Mark Butchard and Ros Faulkner. Mark has been a fantastic sounding board and guiding light to me and our Ops Director as we navigate the journey of scaling a business like ours profitably. Ros has been my mentor on the University of Liverpool's Growth Catalyst programme over the last five months. She's helped me up my leadership skills. I am also fortunate enough to have many unofficial mentors - professional friends and colleagues who have been very kind to me over the years as a sounding board and source of trusted advice and support. For me, that's the real strength of a professional support network - to be able to be helped and provide help when it's needed.

Does money motivate you?

No, not really. What motivates me is doing what I love and doing it to the best of my ability. Don't get me wrong, it's always nice to dream about having more money, but as long as I can afford to pay my bills and go on holiday a couple of times a year I'm happy!

What has been the most important event in your working life?

It's got to be setting up Agnes. I thought about it for years and kept bottling it but turning 40 was a bit of a catalyst for me. It's Agnes's 10th anniversary this year so I'm glad I took the leap!

Who do you most admire?

People who dedicate their days - often unpaid - to do the work that means most in society.

What does leadership mean to you?

Enabling the people in your team to focus on what they do best and giving them the support and training to excel.

What’s your favourite TV programme?

Tough one. Changes almost weekly, but at the moment I'm binge watching The Gentleman.

How do you relax?

Being outside and going on walks with the dog.

Fry up or healthy smoothie?

Healthy smoothie on the whole but love a Saturday fry-up.

Pub or club?

Pub, preferably a brewery tap.

Gym or countryside walk?

Countryside walk.

Favourite piece of music?

Ooof, that's difficult. At the moment, I'm listening to The Lathums a lot so let's go with that.

Flannels or Florence & Fred?

Flannels for browsing, Florence and Fred for buying!

Birkdale or Birkenhead?

Birkenvegas.
