Liverpool Biennial is the oldest and largest festival of contemporary visual art in the UK. Since its inception in 1998, the Biennial has become renowned in the international contemporary art world, bringing together a plethora of voices and artistic practices from across the world.

Taking place every two years, Liverpool Biennial activates public institutions, historical sites and extraordinary locations across Liverpool, delivering major commissions in the public realm. Pioneering an innovative approach underpinned by a year-round programme of research, education, residencies, projects and commissions, each biennial edition brings forward a renewed thinking and scale of production.

Having commissioned over 340 new artworks and presented work by over 480 celebrated artists from around the world, Liverpool Biennial is built on a longstanding commitment to connecting international artists with local practitioners, communities and the public at large.

The two positions that Liverpool Biennial are advertising are listed below:



DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT, MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

SALARY: £47,465 - £49,164 (depending on experience)

HOURS: 37.5 per week

CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent, Based in Liverpool

Liverpool Biennial is seeking a dynamic and creative Director of Development, Marketing & Communications to join its team. You will lead on our fundraising and communications strategies, establishing meaningful relationships with major grant funders, corporate sponsors, partners and stakeholders within the City and beyond, whilst ensuring consistency of branding across all of our materials and communications. This is an exciting new role for a gifted communicator with an entrepreneurial mindset, to be part of an open and agile team, delivering outstanding contemporary art to a diverse audience, in one of the world’s most vibrant and illustrious cities.

You will be a dynamic and results driven individual with a proven success record in development and relationship management and the ability to exceed your targets.

You will have a passion for contemporary art, be energetic, engaged and adaptable, and enjoy working in a non-conventional yet exciting environment. You should have at least five years’ experience in a similar role, ideally in the arts and cultural sector.

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

SALARY: £30,925 - £33,058 (depending on experience)

HOURS: 37.5 per week

CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent, Liverpool based.

Liverpool Biennial is seeking a dynamic and creative Marketing & Communications Manager to join its team. You will manage the delivery of our Marketing & Communications strategy to optimise and expand engagement with key stakeholders and work with the wider team to enhance Liverpool Biennial’s presence locally, nationally and internationally, ensuring consistency of branding across all of our materials and strategies. This role provides an excellent opportunity to have a significant impact upon the Biennial, as part of an open, proactive and agile team, delivering outstanding contemporary art to a diverse audience.

You will have well-developed skills in creating and developing effective marketing strategies and producing materials across a range of traditional and digital channels. You will be energetic, engaged and adaptable, with at least three years’ experience in a similar role.
