Beat the Blues: Blue Monday with Imagine Independence

The third Monday in January is Blue Monday. Post-Christmas melancholy has set in, and a combination of grey days and a swiftly dwindling pay packets have sent dopamine levels nose diving.

Don’t despair, Professional Liverpool are here for you! We are joining forces with Imagine Independence to give our business community a mood boost and to help businesses promote positive well being among their employees.

The event will be interactive and fun with a range of activities catering for all learning styles.

We will be hosting two sessions during the day with lunch sandwiched in between:

  • Session 1: Understand Mental Health & Improve your Wellbeing 10:30 - 12:30

A mental health and wellbeing session for individuals who want to adopt simple changes in the New Year to promote their mental health and wellbeing.

The workshop will cover the following:

  • What is mental health?
  • Challenging stigma around mental health
  • Mental health risk factors
  • Protective factors for good mental health
  • Tips to improve our own mental wellbeing
  • 5 Ways to Wellbeing
  • Session 2: Understanding and Improving Mental Health in the Workplace 14:00-16:00

This would set out the simple steps that employers can take to embed positive mental health into their workplaces. This will cover best practice in relation to policy and procedures for the SME sector in order to reduce sickness absence/presenteeism and promote resilience/wellbeing amongst employees.

The workshop will cover the following:

  • Understanding mental health
  • Challenging workplace stigma
  • Recognising warning signs and risk factors in the workplace
  • Understanding protective factors for our mental wellbeing
  • Best practice
  • Action planning for a better workplace

The sessions will last 2 hours, and will include a short film, group discussions, optional personal activities and a presentation. While the session will be fun and informative, sensitive and supportive, parts of the morning may cover difficult content for some people.
