Name: Danielle Booth
Company: Condy & Lofthouse Architects
Position: Associate Architect and RIBA Conservation Registrant
What do you actually do day-to-day? As an Architect I get to be creative and help clients realise their ideas for their homes, land and buildings. A day in the office can be anything from working with clients to drawing up feasibility designs, to planning applications, to building regulations and construction drawings, to on-site meetings. It is always different which makes it a really enjoyable job.
Have you ever had a mentor? If so, who? Not formally, but throughout my career I have been very fortunate to meet and work with some highly motivational and inspirational people, who have then shaped the way I think.
Does money motivate you? Not entirely, but to win on the lottery might make things easier at times. Having money allows for some freedom to spend it on adventures with family and friends and travelling the world.
What has been the most important event in your working life? I have set myself many goals in my career over the years, some have been bigger than others, but being made an Associate at CLA was a proud moment.
Who do you most admire? I admire many things. People, places, actions. I think it is difficult to pick just one person, but if I had to pick, on the spot just one it would be Richard Branson. But, if I had to pick one ‘trait’ I admire, it would be ‘courage’. Whether that is facing a fear, taking a leap of faith to follow dreams, or the courage to try something new. That takes strength and determination.
What does leadership mean to you? Leadership is someone who helps, supports, guides and listens, alongside setting a good example. Also someone who can inspire others.
What’s your favourite TV programme? I don’t watch much TV to be honest, but I have taken to Bridgerton recently, and maybe a bit of Clarkson’s Farm.
How do you relax? Relax, I don’t know I do much of that at the moment with a project house, 2 kids and a working life. A peaceful Spa day would be nice though, or a warm holiday.
Fry up or healthy smoothie? Fry up.
Pub or club? Oh, tough one, maybe a Pub with a Beer Garden.
Gym or countryside walk? Countryside Walk
Favourite piece of music? I don’t have a set ‘genre’ or one piece of music, but I enjoy dance music so maybe something chilled out on an Ibiza beach.
Flannels or Florence & Fred? Florence and Fred – but probably more ASOS.
Birkdale or Birkenhead? Birkdale. Although, given the new masterplans for Birkenhead, it might the new up-and-coming place on the Wirral in the next few years.
