Planning permission granted for a new housing development at Middleton Towers, Morecambe

Liverpool based Architectural practice and Professional Liverpool members Condy Lofthouse Architects are delighted to have successfully gained planning permission to develop a 5.9 acre, former Pontins Holiday camp and brownfield site in Morecambe.

The site has been subject to various development options over the years since the Middleton Towers Pontins Holiday Camp closed down in 1993; and the site was historically designed to accommodate a gated retirement village, but this was only partially constructed.

Condy Lofthouse Architects have worked closely with the Client, Consultant and Local Authority teams to provide a high-quality scheme of 49no. new family dwellings that provide a modern, yet sympathetic housing masterplan, that will knit back into the existing built form. The development will complete the infill elements in-between the existing dwellings and will look to maximise the amazing views across the Morecambe Bay, and provide much needed family homes with a sense of community and place, set within a coastline setting.

The aspirations are to start site works in 2024 and complete them as part of a phased development.
