A leading property consultancy swapped property for paddles as it rowed to victory along the Mersey in a charity dragon boat race.

Fisher German’s crack team of dragon boat rowers from their Liverpool, Manchester and Knutsford offices won the 11th annual Liverpool Waters Dragon Boat race at Princes Dock, which was run in aid of Claire House Children’s Hospice.

The hospice helps children in and around Liverpool who are seriously or terminally ill live as good a life as they can while providing vital emotional support to their families.

Sharing a boat with commercial agency Avison Young, the Fisher German team won three out of three heats along the 200m course and secured the fastest time of the day to qualify for the semi-finals.

There, they faced off against event hosts and major port group Peel – a retained client of Fisher German – and pipped them at the line in a photo finish.

The final was a three-way race between Fisher German, Colliers, and Equans, and this race was even closer.

Fisher German were found to have won by just a quarter of a second after video footage needed to be consulted. While the event was a great day of competition, it raised over £20,000 for Claire House Children’s Hospice.

David Laws, Partner at Fisher German, said: “The Liverpool Waters Dragon Boat Race is always a fantastic event, and we were delighted to join other businesses in Liverpool for a day of friendly competition and fundraising.

“We gave it our all and it was testament to the team’s efforts that we were able to come away with the trophy this year.

“And while competing was a lot of fun, this event is all about raising funds for Claire House Children’s Hospice which provides amazing pastoral care for young children and their families in Liverpool and the Wirral.

“We were so pleased to be part of such a wonderful event and we were delighted to have been able to contribute towards the Hospice's much needed funding. We’d also like to thank Peel for once again putting on such a brilliant event. We’re looking forward to defending our title next year!”
