Cazoo, the UK’s leading online car retailer, which makes buying your next car as simple and seamless as purchasing any other product online today, has announced that it has donated £105,000 this season to the official charities of its two Premier League partners, Everton Football Club and Aston Villa Football Club.

At the start of the 2020/21 season, Cazoo pledged £1,000 to each of Everton in the Community and The Aston Villa Foundation for every goal scored in the Premier League by the respective team this season. Following a strong showing on the pitch by both teams, Cazoo has now donated £48,000 to Everton in the Community and £57,000 to The Aston Villa Foundation.

Established in 1988, Everton in the Community delivers more than 40 programmes a year, specifically designed and developed to tackle social issues which are prevalent across Merseyside such as mental health, employability, dementia, education, disability, poverty and homelessness.

The Aston Villa Foundation works with a range of partners in Birmingham and the wider community and runs around 250 sessions a week which help get people more active, live healthy lifestyles, encourage education, training and skills, and contribute to safer, stronger communities.

Cazoo is pioneering the shift to online car buying and since being founded in 2018, has sold over 25,000 cars to consumers across the UK who have embraced the selection, transparency and convenience of buying quality used cars entirely online. Cazoo owns and reconditions all its cars before offering them for sale for either delivery or collection in as little as 72 hours.

Alex Chesterman OBE, Founder & CEO of Cazoo said, “We’re delighted to be supporting these great Clubs and their respective charities that both deliver essential projects in each of their local communities. It’s been an exciting season and we have had double reason to cheer with every goal scored by Everton and Aston Villa, knowing that it would help both their seasons and their charities. I am happy to announce that we will continue this charitable initiative next season and be cheering for even more goals to be scored.”

Guy Rippon, Head of the Aston Villa Foundation said, “We are very grateful for the support of Cazoo with the ‘Golden Goals’ initiative which has generated an amazing £57,000 for the Foundation. Cazoo has shown a clear commitment to supporting the local community and helping others and the ‘Golden Goals’ scheme has allowed us to be able to react over the course of the season to support priority groups and help to tackle societal issues across Birmingham.”

Lesley Beattie, Everton in the Community Director of Development said, “We are very appreciative to Cazoo for the generosity shown with ‘Goals for Good’ this season. We share many of the same values and they were keen to show their support for our work and give something back to the local community. The team have helped net a considerable amount this season resulting in a fantastic £48,000 donation from Cazoo which has had a massive impact on our work in Liverpool and the surrounding areas.”
