Today World Museum will be (virtually) celebrating the Planetarium’s 50th anniversary, which makes it the longest surviving planetarium in a British museum! To this day, it remains one of the most popular assets of the museum with more than two million visitors to date.

One of its highlights was in February 2016 when World Museum had a live connection with the International Space Station and we were able to speak directly with British astronaut Tim Peake.

Patrick Kiernan, Education Demonstrator (Planetarium), has written a wonderful piece for our website, looking back at the history of the planetarium which is available to read here: https://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/stories/celebrating-planetarium-50

We're creating a new, exciting and mysterious immersive experience at World Museum which will use a mixture of technology, theatre, gamification and storytelling to augment your connection to our museums, and the extraordinary collections we have in our care. We'll be delving deeper into the collections and go behind the scenes like never before.

We've partnered with immersive experts https://www.drawandcode.com/ who will be looking after the technology, but when it comes to stories we need your help.
