Hugh Baird College situated in Bootle is one of the largest providers of education and training in the region, delivering over 300 courses to more than 5,000 students. Courses range from Entry Level to Level 3, Apprenticeships and university Degrees. Unlike many other education providers across the Liverpool City Region our students can join from the age of 14 years and continue their study with us progressing to postgraduate degree level.
Our latest Ofsted grade of 'Good' in March 2018 reflects our passion and commitment to the development of the students who choose to study with us. In 2017, we were awarded TEF ‘Gold’ status for the quality of teaching provision in our University Centre. This is the highest award possible, in recognition of the outstanding delivery of our staff and curriculum.
Working closely with the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership and as well as employers, we are continuously reviewing and developing our curriculum offer to ensure our students have the best opportunity to progress, whether it be into employment or further study. We strive to ensure that our students are able to train to the highest standards with the very best opportunities to progress into work or academia.
Launched in 2013, our L20 Hotel School provides education, training and work experience for those who wish to embark on a career within the visitor economy. Identified as a key growth area in the region, the L20 Hotel School was established to help fill the demand for skills in the industry.
In 2016 we launched Port Academy Liverpool, which provides academic, technical training and enrichment courses for students looking to pursue a career in all aspects of the maritime sector. This £2.5m development is situated within the historic docklands of Bootle and benefits from a wealth of support from industry stakeholders.
Our vision for growth and the development of strong industry partnerships has also continued, with a merger with South Sefton College allowing us to grow our A-level provision. Most recently we increased the College campus with the development of a new £4m St Winefride’s Campus, home to a state-of-the-art Health Training Hub, in partnership with Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust.
We will continue to develop and expand our offer with the support of industry partners as we strive to collaborate, innovate and participate in the growth of the Liverpool City Region economy.
