Hugh Baird College situated in Bootle is one of the largest providers of education and training in the region, delivering over 300 courses to more than 5,000 students.
Our courses range from Entry Level to Level 3, Apprenticeships and University level courses, Foundation Degrees and Degrees. Students can join their 14-16 College at the age of 14, continue their study at College and then progress to degree level at University.
We deliver courses across an extensive range of provisions, from 14-16 year olds and apprenticeships, to A-levels, university levels courses and adult learning, with dedicated campuses and employment-focused results.
Our latest Ofsted grade of 'Good' in March 2018 reflects our passion and commitment to the development of the students who choose to study with us. In 2017, we were awarded TEF ‘Gold’ status for the quality of teaching provision in our University Centre. This is the highest award possible, in recognition of the outstanding delivery of our staff and curriculum.
Working closely with the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership and as well as employers, we are continuously reviewing and developing our curriculum offer to ensure our students have the best opportunity to progress, whether it be into employment or further study.
Launched in 2013, our L20 Hotel School provides education, training and work experience for those who wish to embark on a career within the visitor economy. Identified as a key growth area in the region, the L20 Hotel School was established to help fill the demand for skills in the industry.
In 2016 we launched Port Academy Liverpool, which provides academic, technical training and enrichment courses for students looking to pursue a career in all aspects of the maritime sector.
In 2017, South Sefton College in Litherland became part of Hugh Baird College. South Sefton College was renamed the Hugh Baird College South Sefton Campus and is home to the College’s dedicated Sixth Form Centre which houses its A-level provision.
In 2019 we opened St Winefride’s Campus in partnership with Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust. The campus sits on of the former St Winefride's Roman Catholic Church in Bootle. The redevelopment was funded with £3.9m from the Local Growth Fund (LGF) and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority’s Strategic Investment Fund.
The campus houses the College's Health Training Hub, where our health, social care, nursing and mental health courses are delivered. The campus is also the location for The Life Rooms Bootle, a resource for the local community to access short courses, information and advice about physical and mental wellbeing, money, housing and community services.
The College continues to develop and expand our curriculum with the support of industry partners as we strive to collaborate, innovate and participate in the growth of the Liverpool City Region economy.
