Dr Liz Bishop will be in conversation with Mike Gibney, Director of Workforce and Innovation at The Walton Centre. They will be discussing the new 11-floor Clatterbridge Cancer Centre which will open its doors in May 2020 in Liverpool.
This new state of the art hospital is based on a thriving research and healthcare campus ensuring every patient receives exceptional care and can access the most advanced treatments and clinical trials. Dr Liz Bishop, CEO will showcase this landmark facility which is a huge boost to cancer care in Merseyside, potentially saving an additional 700 lives a year.
The state of the art hospital is part of a £162million investment in cancer services for Merseyside and surrounding areas, which will also include improvements to the current Wirral site.
Dr Liz Bishop has been Chief Executive of The Clatterbridge Cancer centre since November 2018.
Prior to her appointment at Clatterbridge she was Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust in London, where she worked for eight years.
A cancer nurse by background, Liz has also held a number of clinical and managerial positions over the years, including Nurse Consultant, Head of Nursing and General Manager for Oncology at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
